one thing about me… you will never see me without nail varnish on, EVER. So I thought I would compile my favourite and best nail designs for all occasions.
Elegant / classic nails
French manicure
You can’t go wrong with a french manicure. They go with everything and they look so simple and clean.
I always get compliments whenever I have a french manicure, because it is timeless.
I think one of the main things about looking elegant, is looking really clean. French manicure is definitely the way to go if you’re looking for a clean look, as it is basically natural nails but enhanced.
I do think, if you’re wanting to look elegant and polished, opt for a shorter nail, instead of really long nails. It adds to the clean and simple look. I usually opt for an almond shape (which is my favourite), but short, square nails always looks polished and refined.
White
Similarly to a french manicure, white nails goes with everything.
They obviously look very clean because of the colour being white (how long they will stay white is another question lol).
I think everyone can agree, white nails are always a solid option for anyone, for any occasion.
It suits anyone, it makes you look more tanned, and makes your jewellery pop.
Powerful nails
Red
There is a theory called the ‘red nail theory’ originally founded by Girlbosstown (https://instagram.com/girlbosstown?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==) and she explains that men are the most attracted to red nails because of how many women (mothers, teachers, etc) wore red when they were younger. I think this is also similar to white.
As well as this, it is a colour that stands out, and red is usually associated with lust, hence why men likes that colour on women so much.
Now we are not doing our nails for men, this is just an interesting theory.
Red nails are a classic. I really do associate red nails with powerful energy.
I also think they go with every outfit, as well as every season.
Black
Step into your dark feminine era, and choose black nails.
When I was younger I used to always associate black nails with all of the ‘enemy’ characters in Disney movies.
But with enemy Disney characters, comes power.
If you want to feel like a bad b*tch, ask for black nails polish next time.
Girly nails
Pink
Pink nails are always a solid option if you are wanting to be fun and girly!
Opting for different designs that include pink adds to the fun!!
Whether that’s a french manicure, pink swirls or a solid pink, you will look so cute and girly!
I have been in my pink era for a while, and I have loved opting for pink nails, to match every other pink thing in my life lol.
I always get compliments whenever I wear pink too, because it is a colour that stands out, and a girly girl will definitely appreciate it! This ones for the girls!!
Glitter / chrome
Another option is having glitter or chrome nails!
They definitely stand out, and are so much fun!
There are so many colours you can add glitter or chrome to, and it instantly adds a wow factor!
If you’re wanting to stand out, or add a little something extra to your everyday nails, glitter and chrome is the way to go!!
Fun nails
Funky patterns
If you’re wanting some funky patterns, there is so much inspo out there!
Whether you want multi-colours or one colour, getting patterns on your nails will make you stand out!
They are interesting to look at, as well and you get less bored of them because they are so fun!
The first image shows pink and green french tips, with two tones of pink and two tones of green. The reverse french on the bottom of the nail, as well as the top, adds an interesting change to the normal french tip, and catches your eye!
The second image features my nails with neutral colours – showing you that you can have funky nails and still keep the colours neutral! The one thing these nails have always reminded me of, is the music video of ‘Somebody that I used to know’ by Gotye (I can’t un see it).
Spring nails
Spring nails are dipping your toe back into the lighter, more pastel colours, and I LOVE IT.
Spring nails remind me of flowers, blossom trees, new beginnings and fresh starts.
Some of my favourite spring nails include:
These purple french tip nails, with patterns on two of the fingers scream spring! The beautiful pastel purple is so cute, and the cow print on the nails just reminds me of being outside in the fresh air!
The second photo shows plain, pale pink nails, with splotches of different spring colours on them! To add a little something extra, I added diamantés to add a little extra sparkle. The different spring colours add so much life to the nails, to transition from the January blues to bright and colourful springtime!
Summer nails
Summer nails are fun, bright, and full of life – just like summer itself!
Swirls
I love swirls for summer! They are so fun and match so well with the summer vibe!
I love doing swirls and adding bright pops of colour!
You could even match your favourite bikini, or favourite summer outfit to the swirls in your nails!
The colours that remind me of summer are bright pinks, oranges, blues, and white!
The first image is blue swirls / wavy lines. The electric blue stands out so much against the neutral base, and adds a pop of colour to the short, minimal nail!
The second image shows a neutral base with pink and orange swirls / lines that catch your eye, and just make you want to have an ice lolly in the sunny weather!
Autumnal nails
Greens
When I think of autumn, I think of dark greens and burnt orange.
Whilst I don’t have any examples of burnt orange, here’s two green ideas!
The first photo shows a deep green, with a matte finish top coat. I received so many compliments on these, ad really felt like I was stepping into autumn. (I also think these would be great Christmas nails too as they are a deep green like Christmas trees!).
The second image shows a brighter green, with a french tip, and a dot of green at the top.
These are great transitional nails from summer to autumn, as they are a brighter green. The dot at the top adds a little extra something to your nails!
Christmas nails
Christmas is a time to celebrate (if you celebrate Christmas), and so to me, the nails are always fun, sparkly, and festive!
My favourite Christmas nails:
Red chrome
Sparkly
Red chrome nails are my favourite Christmas nails to date! They are so festive and received so many compliments that I had to share them!
Another AMAZING option is sparkles! There’s nothing that screams Christmas / festivities more than sparkles! I got the inspo for sparkles with a light pink from a bauble I saw on a Christmas tree! So why not match your nails to your favourite Christmas ornaments?!
Thank you for reading <3
I hope this post gave you some nail inspiration and ideas for your upcoming nail appointment!
