Viral TikTok books that are actually worth the hype

There’s nothing worse than getting hyped up to read a viral book on TikTok, only to be let down. I am going to save you that problem, and tell you the viral TikTok books that are actually worth the hype.

Which books are worth the hype?

ACOTAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses) by Sarah J Maas

The ACOTAR book series are the most viral TikTok books ever and I will never stop recommending them.

I was very hesitant to read the series, because of how hyped it is on TikTok.

Fantasy genres were not something I had dived into before, and I didn’t want to be disappointed!

Let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint!!

Quick summary: It follows a human Feyre, who has been taken to Prythian (land of the immortal high Fae) because when hunting for her and her family (Nesta her older sister, Elain her younger sister, and her father) to survive after they have ended up in poverty, she killed a Fae wolf. Prythian is where humans have always been warned against going, so will Feyre live to find out why?

If you like enemies to lovers, fantasy with a strong plot of romance, and being on the edge of your seat the full time… then you will love this series!

It is also great if you are a romance girly, and you don’t read fantasy, but you want to. That’s because the romance in this series is top tier, and the fantasy / world building is very easy to understand!

‘Happy Place’ by Emily Henry

If I am being totally honest with you, I did not think that this was going to live up to the hype I was seeing all over TikTok, but I can 100% say that this book exceeded all of my expectations!!!

Quick summary:

Harriet and Wyn met in college, and have been together ever since. Going through life together they were perfect for each other… until they weren’t. 

They broke up six months ago, and haven’t told their best friends yet. The worst part of it is, they have to spend a week at the cottage they and their friends have been going to for years, and pretend they are still together. 

The cottage is up for sale, and therefore is the last week all of them can spend at the cottage together, so they don’t want to ruin it for their friends by telling everyone they have broken up.

The whole week they are trying to ignore how much they still want each other, but will they be able to overcome the reason they broke up?

If you like friends to lovers, second chance romance, wholesome friendships, and summer vibes, you will love this book. It was honestly heartbreaking too! I wasn’t expecting to feel so emotionally attached to the characters in this book, but it was so good!!

‘One True Loves’ by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This book is absolutely heart breaking, but so so worth the read. I was thinking about this book for weeks after I had read it!

Quick summary:

This book made me feel so many emotions, I felt the pain of the main character.

Emma is married to Jesse, her childhood sweetheart, and live a wild life travelling and exploring. Until he goes missing and dies in a helicopter crash. She’s eventually moving on and decides to give Sam (has loved her since he met her) a chance, and they are living a really happy life together.

As she is out with her now fiancé, Sam, she gets a call FROM JESSE saying he’s coming back home to her…

So she now has to decide whether she wants to rekindle her romance with Jesse or stay with Sam.

If you like a heartbreaking love story, character development, and not being able to put the book down, you will love this book. This can be up for discussion, but I am happy with who she chose in the end! (If that makes you feel better about reading it lol).

‘Verity’ by Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover gets a lot of hate, but she genuinely did get me into reading with her fast paced books.

Verity did not disappoint! It kept me on the edge of my seat the WHOLE time and I was in absolute shock throughout the full book!

Quick summary: A writer (Lowen) is asked to finish writing a famous author, Verity’s, book series. She is asked by a man called Jeremy, (verity’s wife) because she has been in a crash and is unable to finish the series.

When Lowen comes to their house to find research material to start writing, she finds a manuscript, written by Verity, about verity’s life… It reveals some gruesome and outrageous things.

So now she has to live in their house, watching Jeremy care for his wife, knowing what she knows. But will she tell Jeremy she has read it to warn him, or will she keep quiet?.

If you like thrillers, romance, and tension, you need to read this book. It is one of Hoover’s best books (in my opinion). Hoover has a lot of viral TikTok books, but this one is one of my faves.

‘The Song of Achilles’ by Madeline Miller

I started out very hesitant to read this viral TikTok book, but I was so happy I gave it a chance.

As someone who likes a romance, and wants that to be the key focus of the story, I was very surprised that I actually enjoyed reading about the setting and the background.

Quick summary: It follows Patroclus and Achilles relationship from when they meet when they are younger. It is set in the Greek Heroic age (which is so interesting to read about!), and follows the events before and after the great Trojan war. It is a devastatingly, amazing love story that will 100% break your heart.

History lovers will know that Patroclus must die before Achilles. But from the moment you begin reading it, all you want is a happy ending.

If you like books where you are attached to the characters immediately, enjoy reading about Greek mythology, secret but wholesome romance… then you will love this book.

‘The Off – Campus’ series by Elle Kennedy

This is more of a viral TikTok book series, and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed.

Obviously there are some books in the series I enjoy more than others, but I still couldn’t put any of them down!

Quick summary: The Off – Campus series is based on 4 hockey teammates who live together. The series follows their relationships with 4 different girls, and will make you grin from ear to ear.

The series is very fast pace and easy to read, it is romance and spice heavy!! Who doesn’t love college bad boys?

If you like spice, tension, college romance, you will love this series!! My favourite books in the series are ‘The Deal’ and ‘The Score’.
