I couldn’t go a day without seeing bridgerton season 3 all over my for you page on tiktok, or on the main feed of instagram, so I decided to give all 3 seasons a go, and see what the hype was about, it did not disappoint.
After getting through the first couple of episodes and the initial uncertainty of whether or not I can listen to this accent for 3 seasons, I was hooked.
Season 1
This one is for my enemies to lovers girlies, but seriously, who doesn’t love an enemies to lovers trope?
I would also argue it could fit into the brothers best friend trope, so you already know the secrecy and the tension in this season are going to be intense!
The whole season, you’re just hoping and praying that Simon embraces the soft spot he has for Daphne, and own his feeling. As well as Daphne swallowing her pride and coming to terms with her true feelings also.
There were some scenes (I won’t spoil) towards the end of the season that I thought were quite bizarre and could have easily been resolved with communication, however I did really love this romance.
There is a lot of sympathy towards Simon, especially when discovering the hardships of his childhood.
I love Lady Bridgerton in this season, although she is under pressure wanting the best marriage for her first daughter, a mother always knows what her child wants, and will give gentle pushes in that direction.
Similarly, Lady Danbury was very similar in her role, somehow always knowing people’s true feelings before they’ve even figured it out themselves.
Season 2
Firstly, I wanted to mention Lady Featherington. Now, she is an unlikeable character based on some of her actions, but I find myself drawn to her.
It is obvious that she is navigating life alone, trying to shield any bad from her daughters (the situation with Jack Featherington), even though some of her actions may be questionable. Her line ‘I am a mother’ was a huge turning point for me, and made me like her so much more.
The same could be said of Kate Sharma, trying to navigate life whilst trying to protect / achieve the best outcome for her family.
The romance in this season is a good one, however if you don’t like the fact that it involves a triangle with 2 sisters, this season may not be your favourite.
There were times when I had to stop thinking about if this was happening in real life with my own sister, because I could never.
This season you’re rooting for one thing, but don’t want the other to get hurt, so you’re simply just sitting back and watching it unfold.
Saying that, I do love the romance in this season. I think Lord Bridgerton needed a strong woman, who challenges him and matches his energy.
Again, Lady Danbury seems to never miss and is always right. She is the mother of all mothers. I love her character and how she gives the other characters gentle pushes towards their true feelings, however, always supports no matter the decision.
Similarly, Daphne was very similar to Lady Danbury in the sense of knowing one’s true feelings before they’ve even realised it themself. It was nice to see how happy she was in this season too!
Season 3
Finally, Penelope gets her own season! She has always been there in the background of the other seasons, however it is interesting to dive into her life more.
I did feel very sorry for her this season, even though her loss of friendships were justified, and she was arguably just the same as Cressida, and we know they didn’t get the same ending.
If you love a friendship to lovers romance, then you will love this season
I’m not sure if it was the long build up from the previous 2 seasons, but the romance in season 3 felt slightly more rushed than the previous seasons, maybe i’m just being crazy.
I still loved the romance deeply, I just wished the timing was different, however saying that, it has been building since season 1 so some may say it didn’t happen quick enough.
*spoilers ahead*
I just need to get this off my chest and is the only spoiler I will say…
How does Colin find out Penelope is Lady Whistledown, get mad, then forgives, then they get married, then he gets mad again???? Like Colin I thought we forgave and forgot why are you mad a second time?????
*No spoilers from this point*
Although I have shipped Penelope and Colin together since the beginning, I found myself rooting for Eloise and Penelope more, which is surprising.
One of my favourite things about this season is the relationship between Penelope and her mother. I feel they realise that they are a lot more similar than they realised, and they now have an understanding between each other.
Thank you for reading <3
If you have been thinking of watching Bridgerton, then this is your sign (even though I know I am also so late on the train lol).
So if you don’t mind me, I will be speaking like a Bridgerton character for at least the next month until I find a new hyperfixation x
If anyone has any other TV show recommendations, please do let me know!
Do I stick Emily in Paris out? I am struggling to get into it!!
