I am writing this as I am on the way to work, currently on my period, so trust me, I know what your going through, and I am going to be giving you (and using) all of my tips on how to get through the work day on your period.
Comfy clothing
I know some of you may work in a slightly stricter work environment, or maybe you have a uniform you have to wear, however, if there’s anything you can do to make it comfier, it will make your day much easier.
Even if that consists of putting a heat pad on your belly or back!
If you are lucky enough to have a more smart casual dress code, I know you have an outfit in mind that is the most comfortable, but also fits in with your dress code.
Zara trousers (click the image for the link).
These are SO comfy, yet they still look extremely professional! The drawstring allows you to tighten or loosen depending on how your feeling!
H&M jumper (click the image for the link).
This is the perfect oversized jumper that still looks professional. It has splits up the side, giving the jumper more shape, whilst still being able to cover your bum!
Be slow and kind to yourself
When I am on my period, I know I definitely DON’T want to be rushing around and causing more stress.
I make a conscious effort to have everything sorted. Whether that’s planning my outfit the night before, packing my bag so I can just get ready and go.
Although I do want a little more sleep, I try to wake up at the same time as usual, so I don’t have to rush.
Allowing yourself plenty of time means you can take everything slow, relax, and enjoy your morning.
Being kind to yourself is important, especially when you feel like a sloth with no desire to move or talk for the day.
Acknowledging the fact that you will be slightly out of it today, accepting that and not beating yourself up for it is key.
Lots of beverages
Another key to getting through the work day on your period is making sure your staying hydrated.
My water bottle is always on hand, especially on my period, as well as warm teas to help keep me cosy.
I love peppermint tea with honey, not only is it delicious, it helps with digestion, especially when you drink it after a meal, so you don’t feel as groggy, and it can help with cramps!
Other teas that can help with cramps:
- Raspberry leaf
- Chamomile
- Thyme
- Ginger
Foods that make you feel good as well as treats!!!
All I want to eat on my period is chocolate. Will that make me feel good? For maybe 5 minutes yes, but after a while, absolutely not.
Am I still going to have chocolate? Yes, of course. Am I also going to have foods that will actually fill me up and make me feel satiated and good, yes.
This is going to help you get through the work day on your period because it is going to make you enjoy the treat better anyways, and will not make you crash throughout the day too.
Hot water bottle
I can’t even explain how much a hot water bottle can ease cramps and aches. It also makes you feel much cosier at work, and is a staple in helping you get through the work day on your period.
You can also get pads that can stick to your skin or clothing that heats up which could be a great often if you don’t feel comfortable bringing in a hot water bottle / aren’t sitting down for your job.
Smelling nice
When I’m on my period, I don’t feel the best and I am constantly worrying about smells etc.
I know i’m not the only one here.
This is the perfect time to whip out you strongest and fanciest perfume. You might as well smell your best and feel special with your fancy perfume.
This helps you get through the work day on your period because if you’re not feeling the freshest, shall we say, smelling nice will make you feel so much nicer.
Your perfume doesn’t have to be expensive to smell nice.
One of my favourite perfumes is from Stradivarius and is £19.99!! It smells like summer in a bottle, and whenever I wear it, I am transported to a tropical holiday (which is somewhere I’d definitely rather be than going to work).
Here is the description if you think you will like it: Berries, pear water, coconut water, damask rose, emotional waves, peach, jasmine, vanilla, white musk and a cotton candy note.
Thank you for reading <3
