It’s no secret to the people that know me that Legally Blonde is my favourite movie. I have it studied down to a T, which is why I think I am a credible source in telling you How to channel your inner Elle Woods.

1. Embrace your feelings
We all know that Elle Woods goes through a variety of feelings throughout the movie, but the main thing, is that she never fakes them.
Whether she is heartbroken about Warner, determined about Law school, she doesn’t ever pretend to be feeling how she’s not.
A lot of the time, if we’re upset we might not show it. We might hold it in and bottle things up.
Whereas we know Elle Woods lets her feelings show without hesitation. *cue the scene where she is crying in bed eating chocolate*
Honey, you have to leave this room, it’s been like… a week.

2. Wear what you want
I think one of the best parts of the movie is the fact she wears exactly what she wants, and doesn’t care about what anyone thinks.
Whether you want to wear an all pink suit, or red, black, blue, etc, go for it.
Confidence is key, and as Maddy of Euphoria says very wisely: ‘90% of life is confidence. And the thing about confidence is no one knows if it’s real or not’.
So wear what you want proudly, know that it’s a reflection of who you are as a person, and you should be proud of that.

3. Be friends with whoever you want to be friends with
Maturing is realising that there is no such thing as ‘cool kids’ and ‘losers’.
Everyone is their own person and especially in school, they only fit into categories based off of what people think, not what they actually know.
Make your assumptions when you actually get to know the person.
Elle Woods doesn’t make any assumptions or listen to what anyone else tells her, she makes her own decisions.
You’ll probably make the closest friends doing this!

4. Don’t try to fit in with the crowd
We know that as soon as Elle Woods gets to Harvard, she is probably the brightest person in there, clothes and personality wise.
She could have so easily changed her style and dulled herself down to try and fit in with everyone but she didn’t follow the crowd.
She also didn’t follow the crowd when it came to her opinions. Elle Woods felt Brooke Taylor was innocent, and that’s the opinion she stuck to even though everyone else thought she was crazy!

5. Work hard
Whenever I need some motivation, I watch Legally Blonde.
There is nothing more motivating than watching Elle Woods determined and proving everyone wrong.
It doesn’t matter if you aren’t a natural, or academically blessed. If you work hard and are determined, you can achieve anything.
Obviously, Elle didn’t have many commitments aside from Law school, which is unrealistic for the average person who probably have many commitment.
But the key is to make sure that you know what your priorities are and make time for them.

6. You realise your worth
The whole movie is about Elle wanting to win Warner back, and then she realises at the end that he doesn’t deserve her.
You need to value yourself and love yourself more than you love anyone else. And that will ensure that you don’t let anyone treat you any less than what you deserve.
Moral of the story, to channel your inner Elle Woods, don’t settle for less and know your worth.
I think another lesson learnt from this, is to not chase after a man.
Firstly, if a man ever treats you like Warner treat Elle… RUN.
If a man is showing you multiple times that he doesn’t want you and doesn’t value you, do not chase him or beg for his attention. They are not worth it at all.
