What better way to get into the Autumn vibes than by watching movies? It is cosy season after all, and here I have the best movies to watch on Netflix in Autumn.
1. Harry Potter
If I want to feel all cosy and nostalgic, the first movie I think of to watch, is the Harry Potter series.
There no better feeling than hearing the familiar Harry Potter opening tune, and immediately being transported back to your childhood.
Quick summary for those who haven’t seen this:
Harry Potter, an orphan living with his Uncle and Aunt, finds out when he is 11 years old that he is a wizard. Little did he know, he is the son of two powerful wizards, both who died and he wants to find out why and how.
Harry goes from feeling unwanted and unseen in the ‘muggle’ world, to feeling at home and famous in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and wizardry, as he is ‘the boy who lived’. He finds his closest friends in Hogwarts, who quickly become his allies in discovering everything about his life.
If you haven’t seen this movie series, I would HIGHLY recommend you watch it.
It is popular and a fan favourite for a reason!
2. Spider-Man Homecoming & Far from home
Autumn always reminds me of back to school, no matter if I have finished school!
As well as back to school, Autumn always reminds me of fantasy and action because of Halloween!
Spider-Man is the perfect mix of the two.
Whether you choose to watch the older ones with Toby Maguire, or Andrew Garfield, or the new ones with Tom Holland and Zendaya (I love them), either way, you will soak up the Autumn vibes!
The witty banter from the characters in this movie bring laughter and cosy vibes!
Quick summary:
Peter Parker (Spider-Man) has just had the time of his life fighting the Avengers! But now that back to school has started, he is back to being friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, under the watchful eye of Tony Stark.
Peter is desperate for some action bigger than dealing with bike thief’s around his neighbourhood. So peter practically goes out looking for trouble, trying to prove to Stark that he is capable of becoming an Avenger, but will he want the responsibility when it’s threatening those around him?
3. Labyrinth
Is there anything that screams Autumn more than this?
For those who haven’t watched this movie, it stars David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly, and it has an aura of dark nights, foggy mornings and orange leaves. (Just watch it I promise you will see it).
There will be a set amount of people who have seen this and who haven’t, and if you’re watching it for the first time (especially in todays age with this technology), you will see how old the graphics and filming is. However, it is one of those classic movies I used to watch as a child, and will always love this movie.
Quick summary:
Sarah is sick of taking care of her baby brother who cries all the time. She mutters under her breath that she wishes he was taken away by the Goblin King, but she didn’t think it would actually come true.
Sarah now has 13 hours to go through and solve the labyrinth to rescue her brother, Toby.
She faces challenges and meets friends along the way.
4. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
Is there anything that screams back to school, academia, and Autumn vibes more than this?
Who doesn’t love a little back to school rom-com movie?!
The romance will have you kicking your feet and smiling ear to ear!
This is such a fun, light hearted watch compared to some intense Autumn movies, so if you are wanting to continue your Autumn movie marathon, but are wanting something light and fun, this is your movie.
Quick summary:
Lara Jean is an introvert who would rather read romance novels than actually live in one. Instead of confessing her feelings in real life, she writes letter to all of the boys she has loved, and keeps them safely hidden in her room.
That all changes when a certain someone posts the letters to all of the boys, leaving her to deal with the consequences.
5. Stand by me
Such a classic film that I will always love and always recommend!
This is such a good film with heart warming friendships and good vibes! It is also funny too which is a plus!
The story telling in this movie is amazing, and the friendships and coming of age is touching.
Watching this movie makes me want to appreciate my youth more and cherish the friendships that I have!
Quick summary:
After learning that someone in their home town has been accidentally killed, the four boys decide to go looking for the body, in the hopes to be labelled the town heroes. On their way into the woods to find the body, they realise that the bullies are also trying to find the body, and so it becomes a kind of competition.
This event is being told by the character Georgie, who is much older, but takes a trip down memory lane after reading a newspaper article of one of his four friends death.
6. Wild Child
If you haven’t seen this ICONIC movie, you have too!
It is set in a boarding school, which again, back to school, gives me Autumn vibes!
There is romance, friendship, character development, and much laughter in this movie!
I’m sure when you watch this movie, you will have heard a quote or two, because some of the lines are iconic.
Not only does it have Emma Roberts, it has Alex Pettyfer and Natasha Richardson (the mam of the twins from the parent trap!)
Quick summary:
After yet another prank and outburst of bad behaviour, Poppy Moore’s dad ships her off to boarding school in a different country hoping to sort her attitude out.
Poppy is shocked to find that she doesn’t get everything she wants, and there are some people who will not tolerate her selfishness and bad behaviour.
Will boarding school be enough for her to change her act?
Thank you for reading <3
I hope you enjoyed reading this, and now have some Autumn movies to watch to get you into the cosy Autumn spirit!
I love all of these films, let me know if you love them too and if you have any other Autumn movies you would recommend!
